1) Car seats & rear seat reality

The make-or-break section

LATCH / ISOFIX easy to find and reach

No digging between cushions; anchors not blocked by stiff covers.

Rear-facing seat fits without pushing front seat too far forward

Sit in front seat after installation—can an adult still ride comfortably?

Door opening is wide enough for easy loading

Try placing the seat in/out (or simulate with a big bag).

Middle seat usable (if needed)

Check hump size, belt position, and headrest comfort.

Kids’ comfort: rear vents / USB / cupholders

Especially important for winter + school runs.

Important: Don’t assume “Toyota Safety Sense” means the same features every year—verify on the exact car.

4) The drive: comfort, noise, kid vibe

Do a “school run loop”

Ride comfort over bumps is family-friendly

Find rough pavement and speed bumps at low speed.

Cabin noise at 50–70 mph is acceptable

Wind/tire noise affects kids sleeping and conversation.

Brakes smooth + predictable

No pulsing; no loud squeal; easy modulation.

Steering feels stable, not tiring

Try a roundabout / quick lane change if safe.

AC works strong in the back

Rear comfort matters; check fan noise too.

5) Tech & practicality

Daily annoyances add up
